Graduation Season is here!
(You can see all of my graduation photos at the bottom of this blog) :)
It is a time that is full of excitement, joy, relief, and curiosity of the unknown. You are finishing a big chapter of your life and with that you want to finish strong. Let's talk about the fun stuff that comes with graduation; and that is the outfit!

Traditionally girls will wear a white dress for their graduation photos which I have done for both my high school and my university photos. I bought my dress at a small boutique in Santa Barbara where they have handmade pieces imported from Europe. I wanted to wear white because it's a color that goes well with my skin color and it contrasts well with my black robe. The heels I'm wearing are from T.J. Maxx. The anklet I am wearing is from Shein.
I hired a professional photographer (my boyfriend) to take my graduation photos.
These photos were not taken on the same day as my ceremony and I highly suggest you take your photos on a different day as well for several reasons.

Busy Campus:
Lets start with the most obvious. There are going to be so many people on campus that day and having people in the background of your photos is not ideal if you want to get aesthetic pictures. I took my picture sometime in Early May in the evening to avoid having people watch me take pictures but also because the lighting during golden hour is perfect for graduation photos!
2. Patience:
You will be sitting at your graduation ceremony for several hours either in a sweaty gym full of people or you will be roasting like a rotisserie chicken outside in the glazing sun. Take it from me, you do not want to be taking these photos after you are all sweaty and bored out of your mind at the ceremony.

3. Flexibility with Light
If you want to have your photos taken at golden hour, you most likely will not be able to do so if your ceremony is at the same time. You will need to take your photos after or before the ceremony which means you will have harsh lighting which is not what you want for graduation photos.
4. Lack of Time
Before your ceremony you will be busy with showering, doing your hair, and full face of makeup. You also need to keep in mind that you need to arrive extra early so you can find where you are suppose to meet your classmates and have your parents, family, and friends, find the best place to sit. The seating at graduations are usually first come first serve unless you are on the VIP list. So, the earlier your family gets to their seat the better chance they'll have to get a desirable spot. Taking time to take photos before the ceremony may take time away from your family getting the desirable seat.
